May 1975 advertisement

This add shows a second CYC BMX model. Not sure who made this Monoshock. The add doesnt say but I don’t believe CYC was yet making their own bikes. Maybe one of you guys older than dirt may recall what brand this is or one of you willing to do some research. I checked and its NOT a Matthews frame set.

Hi, can anyone help. in 1977 (ish) my dad got a PANTHER chorme with red trim/6 spoke mag steel wheels for me. And a STORMER chorme with blue trim/5 spoke mag steel wheels. for my brother. they paid £150 for each. 30+ years later. i think my bike was best. But which one was the reel winner/best bike??….

  2. IT MAY BE A OLD SCHOOL WESTERN FLYER ! I HAVE A FRAME THAT LOOKS SIMILIAR !

    • Could be, there are a few monoshocks which look similar and may even been made by same guys. Newport and also Bardeen and one more whose name escapes me.

The CYC monos were Littlejohn. I purchased a CYC mono from the original owner a few years ago. It is spray painted yellow (originally red) but the CYC headtube decal is still visible. The original owner received it early in 1975 and at the same time his brother received an identical bike but with a Littlejohn decal. I pushed the Littlejohn to a friend who usually has the bike on display in Tulsa at the Grands.

I’m going to start to work on the CYC. I plan to try to delicately remove the spray paint and maintain the original paint and hopefully the decal.
